Benny died after consuming chicken jerky treats from Canyon Creek Ranch Brand, a company of Waggin' Train, LLC., i.e., Nestle Purina.
It looks like PetSmart offers the same response as Waggin’ Train, Canyon Creek Ranch Brand and Nestle Purina PetCare Company.
Short story, continue to let dogs die until the FDA can “prove” that these products are harmful.
Thank you for sharing your experience regarding Canyon Creek Ranch. We are very sorry to hear your Yorkie has passed and would like to extend our sincere condolences, as well as we hope your Lab is feeling better. I tried to phone you this afternoon, but your phone rang with no voice mail.
I have contacted Canyon Creek for you and asked them to review this incident. I spoke with Pet Advisor Jason and he asked me to have you call them Monday so they can investigate. I have also shared your experience with our Quality Assurance Team.

Case # 18324889
Canyon Creek Ranch dog treats are manufactured at certified facilities inspected by their own Quality Assurance team and third party independent auditors. In light of the recent FDA announcement that the FDA is actively investigating chicken products, PetSmart will continue to monitor all sources of information and take appropriate action based on that investigation. To date the FDA has not been able to determine any contaminant or microbiological issue with the product through the testing they’ve done.
Again our sincere apologies for your loss. Losing a pet under any circumstance is extremely tough; as pet parents ourselves we empathize with your concerns. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.
